Women in Tech: Accelerate Action Battersea Trip
Posted on 11/03/2025Today, some of our Year 6 children enjoyed a Women in Tech: Accelerate Action Battersea Trip. They were invited to attend an exclusive, high-profile technology event at the iconic Apple headquarters at the world-famous Battersea Power Station in London. This exciting event hoped to inspire the next generation of STEM pioneers, offering the children a unique opportunity to hear from trailblazing women who are at the forefront of innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The day consisted of various presentations from women involved in areas as diverse as commercial and military satellite communications as well as film and media post-production engineering. The Q&A session followed, directed to the panel of women, and an interactive task was set for the students. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage directly with thought leaders from one of the most influential technology companies in the world.
Here are some quotes from our students: Emma: “Today I thought was a tremendous day. It was so posh.” Jemima: “The Apple headquarters were so pretty, and the guest speakers were so inspiring! I loved it!” Alara: “I had the best day. The women were so inspirational. The building was awesome as well.” Myah: “Today was an unimaginable day with lovely speakers. I loved Mac. Everything was so inspirational; we all had a great time.” Hannah: “Today was an opportunity of a lifetime. The words were so inspiring, and Mac was brilliant.” Georgie: “Today was amazing! I’m so happy I got to go; it was so inspiring.”
Miss Rudd, who led the trip, said, “Thank you to Jigsaw24 for providing this awe-inspiring event. As a teacher of girls, we have a responsibility to equip them with the knowledge and determination to tackle the ever-changing world of work. We must also make sure that they go into this with a belief that they can achieve as much and more as their male counterparts. Girls need to see and hear from other inspirational women who have carved out careers for themselves in all varieties of life; the day provided this and more”.
