UK Electric Vehicles Lab Challenge
Posted on 28/01/2025On Tuesday, some of our mathematicians and computer scientists from across the school were selected to take part in the Engineering Tomorrow! Electric Vehicle Event, an inspiring and hands-on experience. During the event, they explored the fascinating history, development, and design features of electric vehicles. Students then engaged in a lab activity, learning how to build their very own electric vehicle. They gained insights into this rapidly growing field of technology and innovation. It was a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of cutting-edge technology and develop valuable skills. It was wonderful to see our students’ enthusiasm and curiosity.
“I really enjoyed the experience today. I found it very fun and interesting to learn about EV’s and develop my knowledge more about them (especially some of the mechanics behind them). Building the model electric vehicle was my favourite part due to the challenges designing and making a vehicle that would actually drive. This really challenged us and how we could make the models and effectively transfer the power from the motor to the wheels. It was also interesting listening to the engineers that gave talks and the skills needed for becoming an engineer and what future that career could lead to. Thank you.” Bryn W-S.
“The event has allowed us to work together as a team while exploring the art of engineering. We all contributed with creativity and do our best to achieve the best outcomes possible, which we were really pleased and proud of. A lovely experience.” Dyno L.
