WWII Cooking Project Year 6
Posted on 03/12/2021At Samuel Ryder Academy our curriculum is planned not only to educate but to provide the children with first-hand experiences. Therefore, as part of our design and technology curriculum, the Year 6 children have been making dishes inspired by the common meals that were made during WWII.
We are lucky enough to have our own food technology kitchens complete with all the facilities that the children needed to make these dishes. All cookery lessons were supervised by at least two members of staff and closely observed and supported.
The children made ‘carrot cake muffins’ and a ‘vegetable turnover’. There were definitely budding chefs in the class!
Please see the below photos of our Year 6 students mastering their cooking skills & to see the finished products.
