First England Cricket Game for Y13 Student Sam Kumar
Posted on 14/09/2020Congratulations to Year 13 student, Sam Kumar, who played for the England PD Senior Team against the Lords Taverners XI on 13 September 2020. The format was 40 Overs and the Taverners scored 150 off 40 Overs with Sam bowling 5 overs for 26 runs.
Though he may not have got a wicket two legends of the game, Mike Gatting and David Gower both praised the young leg-spinner.
Then it was England’s turn to bat and knocked off 150 runs in 17 overs, winning the game convincingly. Sam said
“It was an absolute honour playing with and against such amazing players and having the opportunity of just wearing that England shirt cannot be compared to anything else and then being able to bowl and show my skills was just great. I couldn’t have asked for a better debut though I didn’t get a wicket the team won and that convincingly and that’s what matters.”
Well done to Sam for an Amazing first game.
