The Drama department is a busy part of the school at SRA.
The Drama department runs a range of extra-curricular activities throughout the school year which are available to all students.
Year 7 Drama Club – A lunch time club during which students can take part in all their favourite improvisation games. In the Summer Term Year 7 Drama Club put on a production, (outside if the weather is kind), and all regular Drama Club attendees will have a speaking part.
Year 8 Drama Club – A lunch time club during which students can take part in all their favourite improvisation games. In the Summer Term Year 8 Drama Club put on a production where all regular Drama Club attendees will have a speaking part.
House Drama – In the Summer Term there are House Drama competitions where students in Year 7 and 8 and in Years 9 and 10 compete against each other testing skills of improvisation, script writing and performance.
School Production - Students from all year groups are invited to take part in the annual school production which is performed during the Winter term. This is a valuable opportunity for students to work together creatively, make new friends and experience the thrill of performing to a live audience. There is a role to suit everyone whether it be as an actor, musician, singer, dancer, costume designer, sound engineer, lighting operator or front of house manager.
Recent successful productions include:
Bugsy Malone, A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz and Grease.
