Winners of the St Albans Civic Society Award

17 October 2014

Mr Gauthier and Mrs Robins proudly accepted the Civic Society Award from the Mayor of St Albans.

The Society and the Awards celebrate imaginative development and design initiatives which have been completed within the city in the previous year. We were one of the five finalists, which included the new Westminster Lodge Sports Centre.

We are delighted to announce that we won. Here is an extract from the judging panel comments; “The principle achievement of this project is its impact upon the general community of St Albans – not least in the provision of much needed primary school capacity.

The simplicity, clean lines and suitable, student-friendly scale of the primary school unit and the linking reception enhance the existing buildings admirably. The bright and spacious feel successfully serves the aim of stimulating and encouraging students and staff alike, and provides excellent state-of-the-art facilities. This together with the enhancement of the library and staff areas within the existing building is highly commendable.”

We are extremely proud of the buildings, facilities and resources available to our students although it is always nice to receive external recognition in this way.

You may be aware that last week we received a visit from John Daniell, HMI, looking at the progress we are making since our last OFSTED inspection. The visit went extremely well and his letter will be published next week on both our website and the OFSTED website.
