Ship Ahoy at Fellowship Afloat

17 May 2017

Residential trip gives Year 3 a taste of adventure at sea.

Our Year 3 classes experienced a nautical adventure recently when they embarked on their first ever residential trip to the Fellowship Afloat, a converted lightvessel moored on the Essex coast.

The children spent the night in cabins and had to muck in with the running of the ship. Washing dishes, doing the rubbish run and cleaning up the saloon were all completed quickly and diligently which meant they had lots of time to go on various excursions. All the children got to try their hand at archery, tackle some tough team building problems and go on a beautiful night walk in the Thames Estuary.

A trip to a ship wouldn’t be complete without any water-based activities and so the children from York class were able to try their hand at sailing, while Bath class were lucky enough to skipper a powerboat.  All of these wonderful activities were topped off with wonderful food and plenty of cake!
