Students asked to wear a hat for Brain Tumour Research

14 March 2017

On Friday 31st March 2017 our prefect team is asking students across the school to join them in celebrating ‘Wear a Hat Day’.

‘Wear a Hat Day’ is a fun way of increasing awareness for Brain Tumour Research, an amazing charity that does a tremendous amount of work for so many people.

Currently, brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

The charity is striving to fund a network of seven dedicated research centres whilst challenging the government and larger cancer charities to invest more in brain tumour research.

The prefect team, with students’ help, wants to help fund the fight to find a cure and is asking everyone to come to school wearing a hat for the day.  Each student will be asked to make a £1 donation to the charity for the privilege.  In addition, the prefects will be holding a cake sale and selling charity badges in the school canteen for the secondary children at break and lunchtime.  To encourage participation, they will also be holding a hat competition for those truly exceptional hats – so now is the time to get creative!

A school assembly will be held on Monday 27th March to launch the event and increase awareness of the charity.  Further information on ‘Wear a Hat Day’ is available by clicking this link.
